Squamous Cell Carcinoma In-Situ

Here's a way to remember the important features of squamous cell carcinoma in-situ of the penis:

 

Erythroplasia of Queyrat

  • Older men
  • Solitary or multiple erythematous plaques on the glans and foreskin
  • Progresses to invasive SCC in <10%

 

Bowen Disease

  • Older men
  • Solitary grey-white plaque on the shaft and scrotum
  • Progresses to invasive SCC in <10%

  

Bowenoid Papulosis

  • Young sexually active men (HPV-related)
  • Multiple red-brown papules on the shaft
  • Does NOT progress to invasive carcinoma
